Evan leads the criminal practice at G&M, handling criminal defense at the State and Federal levels in New York and New Jersey. Evan represents defendants accused of serious violent offenses, white collar offenses, drug offenses, vehicular crimes, weapons charges,  sexual crimes, including SORA defense, restraining orders and juvenile proceedings. He also handles civil complex civil litigation for the firm representing individuals, businesses and corporations. He has successfully taken cases to trial, and has earned a reputation of zealously fighting for his clients in the courtroom and negotiating settlements to obtain the results his clients deserve. 

Prior to joining Guaglardi & Meliti in 2013, Evan began his legal career at Benjamin Ostrer & Associates, P.C. in Chester, New York, obtaining experience assisting in the defense in high profile felony/homicide trials before serving the Kings County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney. At the DA's Office, Evan went on to successfully prosecute hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases, including violent crimes, vehicular, drug and white collar offenses. This broad spectrum of experience allowed Evan to gain great knowledge of the vast criminal law arena from investigation through trial. While working at the DA’s Office, Evan also formed many valuable friendships with fellow attorneys, prosecutors, judges, clerks,  police officers, corrections officers, and probation officers  that continue to be of great benefit to his practice today.

Since Evan's public service, Evan has also handled civil litigation for G&M, including business/partnership disputes, business torts, commercial transactions, matters involving consumer fraud and the false claims act, employment disputes, contracts and torts. 

In recognition of Mr. Ostrer’s dedication, hard work and success, he has been recognized by 201 Magazine as one of Bergen County’s Top Criminal Lawyers and selected by Super Lawyers Rising Stars* from 2019-2021. 

Evan grew up on Long Island, educated in Albany, Michigan and Australia, and is a current resident of Bergen County, New Jersey.
